A leasehold property's construction or structure may be owned by a foreigner, but not the land on which it is built.

 

Foreigners can obtain residency status in Qatar if they possess a freehold property, which can be extended to their family members for as long as they own the property. Meanwhile, foreigners must first have a valid Qatar visa before entering into a leasehold contract.
