The building and the ground on which it resides are both included in a freehold property. Non-Qataris are allowed to buy and own freehold properties, but only in certain locations of the country.

 

  • LEASEHOLD PROPERTIES 

A leasehold contract, which gives lessees the right to utilize a commercial or residential property for 99 years, is also available to foreigners. Leasehold contracts, like freehold properties, are only permitted in specific locations, however, leasehold properties can be utilized for both residential and commercial uses. A leasehold property's construction or structure may be owned by a foreigner, but not the land on which it is built.

 

Foreigners can obtain residency status in Qatar if they possess a freehold property, which can be extended to their family members for as long as they own the property. Meanwhile, foreigners must first have a valid Qatar visa before entering into a leasehold contract.
